Volunteering is an activity that can give you a spiritual direction. If you want to feel God, you can do it through volunteering. It is one of those activities that are truly satisfying. By helping others help themselves, you have created an invisible bank account of goodwill. And as you do more and more, your goodwill balance increases.
Volunteering is serious business nowadays. It is unlike a summer job that if left half-finished willbe just about OK. The world needs volunteers who are serious about helping others. And helping them efficiently and effectively.
If you want to become a volunteer, you must first imbibe certain core values. These are discipline, dedication, trust, humaneness, and obedience. A volunteer program is only as good as its volunteers.
Over the years, there has been a serious shortage of manpower in certain areas affected by natural and man-made disasters. Multilateral humanitarian agencies are short of people who have the ability and attitude to lend a helping hand.
You could be their answer. You don’t need to volunteer all year round. Just a little bit. Your duty as a volunteer is also to encourage others to join. As a volunteer you should portray values of kindness, compassion, and humanity. These values are the very basis of human existence.
Volunteering is not easy. That’s why it’s like taking a karmic action to struggle to help others. If you are a believer in karma, then volunteer is the greatest karma you could do. The joy and hope you put on thousands of people is inexplicable in words. Volunteer is definitely spiritual. It’s akin to God’s work.
